People to Food
People of all walks of life, from the poorest neighborhoods in Los Angeles to the richest suburbs, depend on food. Humans have a strong implied connection to each other through what we eat. We need to make the these points of connection explicit.
Partnering with South Central Farmers, PCU’s Eighth Day Project will be looking closely at food access, food sovereignty and food justice issues—and helping to combat the “food deserts” that characterize so many under-resourced neighborhoods of color. By helping to expand the South Central Farmers’ Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program in the region, we will bring a new energy to an already-buzzing program. We seek to build stronger relationships between people of faith and local farmers by offering volunteer help, advocate on their behalf to elected officials, and help network their organic goods to the families, churches, and small businesses.
